Course Objective
VCE VET Dance is a pre-vocational course, and will prepare you to audition for further (tertiary) training as dancer, dance teacher or choreographer. The course will give you a taste of what the industry is like so you can work out if you want to pursue dance as a career. If you successfully complete this course you will receive a Certificate II in Dance CUA20113. VET Dance is available as a VCE subject OR as part of a VCAL program.

VCE VET Dance Entry Requirements
There are no pre-requisites to enrol in this course, but previous experience in dance will be an advantage. Students may commence VCE VET Dance in year 10 or 11.

What makes our program unique

Our VCE VET Dance trainers, all hold the approved certificate for dance and relevant qualifications. These trainers have relevant accreditation and qualifications, and also current experience. Their skills, knowledge and experience are mapped against each unit of competency they deliver. This information is updated annually and evidence of new professional learning activity is recorded and filed. This information is kept in the RTO Trainer Register.

Our trainers consider individual student needs when finalising training programs and assessment. This may be reflected in changes of approach to training and types of activities, the styles of dance offered, the integration of physical activity with sedentary or group tasks versus independent work.

VCE VET Dance ATAR score contributions

  • 2 solos (one in each dance style) contribute 50% to your ATAR score for VCE VET Dance
  • School assessed coursework contributes the other 50% of your ATAR score for VCE VET Dance

For more details, see the VCE VET Dance page on the VCAA website here.
